Common questions

How is volume measured?
Per signal, on the decoded OpenTelemetry payload: the bytes your logs, spans and metric points occupy once the ingest endpoint unpacks them, before compression. Each signal has its own 100 GB allowance and they are not pooled. Sending 250 GB of logs and 10 GB of traces bills 150 GB of log overage, not zero.
What happens if I exceed my plan limits?
We'll notify you as you approach your included volume. On the Startup plan, additional usage is billed at a flat $0.30 per GB, per signal — the same rate shown on this page. If you'd rather not go over, set a spend limit and ingest pauses instead.
Can I cap what I spend?
Yes. Set a monthly spend limit in the app and choose what happens when you reach it: get notified, or pause ingest for the signal that crossed its cap until the cycle resets. The check runs hourly against the same usage your invoice is built from.
Do metrics cost extra?
No. Metrics are metered by volume like logs and traces: 100 GB included, then $0.30 per GB. There is no per-series, per-sample or custom-metric surcharge.
How are browser sessions and product events billed?
A browser session is one visitor session recorded by the browser SDK, replay included. 5,000 are included each month, then $0.002 per session. Product events are unlimited and free while they are in beta.
How long is data retained?
Retention varies by plan — the Startup plan includes 30-day retention and Enterprise plans offer custom retention periods. All plans include full query access to your retained data.
Do you offer a free trial for paid plans?
The Startup plan includes a 14-day free trial. A credit card is required, and you won't be charged until the trial ends. Enterprise plans start with a conversation instead.
Is Maple compatible with OpenTelemetry?
Yes — Maple is built natively on OpenTelemetry. Any application instrumented with OTel SDKs or the OTel Collector can send data directly to Maple with zero code changes. No proprietary agents required.
Can I self-host Maple?
Yes. Maple's source is available under FSL-1.1 (each release becomes Apache 2.0 after two years), and the project can be self-hosted on your own infrastructure. The cloud plan is available for teams that prefer a managed experience.
